Luggage Storage in Bratislava: Where to Leave Your Bags Before Check-In and After Check-Out

A row of colourful travel suitcases on a cobbled street in an old town
In short: Check-in at our apartments is from 15:00 and check-out is by 10:00, so if you arrive in the morning or leave in the evening you will have a few hours with your suitcase. The most reliable luggage storage in Bratislava is at Nivy bus station: it is open 24/7 and a locker for 12 hours costs €6 or €7 depending on size. If you come by train, ZSSK runs a left-luggage office at Bratislava-Petržalka station (daily 7:00 to 17:00, €3 per item), while the main station is missing from its list. In the centre there are also drop-off points booked through apps, usually for €5 a day, but only during the venue's opening hours. Early check-in or late check-out can be arranged in advance for an extra fee, if bookings allow.

Luggage storage in Bratislava comes in handy for anyone whose arrival time does not match the check-in time. A train from Košice, a morning bus from Prague or a flight that lands before lunch will get you into the city before the apartment is ready, and on departure it is the other way round: you leave the apartment at ten, but your connection is not until the evening. In this article you will find verified places to leave your suitcase, what they cost, how late they are open and how to plan those hours so you do not spend them on a bench by the platform.

Why There Is a Gap Between Arrival and Check-In

Check-in at our apartments is possible from 15:00 until midnight, and check-out must be done by 10:00 on the day of departure at the latest, as we explain on our Self check-in page. Between one guest leaving and the next arriving, the apartment is cleaned and prepared, so these times usually cannot simply be moved on the spot.

If you arrive on a morning connection, you can easily have five to seven hours ahead of you, and if you leave on an evening train after check-out, you get the same thing in reverse. With one small backpack you can walk around the city without any trouble, but a big wheeled suitcase is another story: the cobbles in the Old Town, the steps up to the castle and busy cafés quickly turn a stroll into hauling cargo. That is exactly when it pays to leave your luggage in one place and explore the city travelling light.

Luggage Storage at Nivy Station

For most guests the most practical option is the luggage storage at Nivy bus station, run by Slovak Lines. You will find it on the first underground floor of the Nivy shopping centre in the lobby area, right opposite the Alza store, and it is accessible 24/7.[1] The station itself is also open around the clock, but outside the shopping centre's opening hours you can only get in through the entrance by the Nivy Tower building.[1]

The storage consists of lockers in two sizes, and you pay for a time slot chosen in advance. The smaller M locker measures 50 × 53 × 70 cm and the larger L locker 50 × 85 × 70 cm, so the bigger and taller locker is the one for a large wheeled suitcase.[2]

12 hours€6.00€7.00
24 hours€8.00€9.00
72 hours€14.00€15.00

Slovak Lines price list valid from 1 July 2024, checked in October 2026. Check prices before you go.

Watch out for overstaying, because once your chosen time slot runs out, the booking is automatically extended by 24 hours. Luggage can stay in the locker for a maximum of 72 hours after the paid period ends; after that the operator moves it to a storeroom and charges €30 for opening the locker and moving the luggage, plus €10 for each started day of storage.[2] On a normal stay this will not affect you, but if you are leaving your suitcase there for a whole weekend, it is good to know these terms in advance.

Nivy has one more advantage: right in the building you will find shops, food and benches, so you can combine waiting for check-in with buying groceries for your first evening. What you can fit into a few hours in the area is covered in our article Eurovea and Nivy.

If You Come by Train: Petržalka and the Main Station

Železničná spoločnosť Slovensko (ZSSK), the Slovak railway operator, runs staffed left-luggage offices at more than fifteen stations, but in its price list valid from 15 May 2025 the only Bratislava station listed is Bratislava-Petržalka.[3] The office there is open daily from 7:00 to 17:00 and you pay €3.00 per item of luggage for each day of storage. If you lose your claim ticket, ZSSK charges a fee of €5.00 for each ticket you cannot produce, so keep it as carefully as your train ticket.[3]

At the time we checked (October 2026), the main station did not appear on the ZSSK list of left-luggage offices, so we would not rely on it when planning. If you get off at the main station, you have two sensible options: take public transport to Nivy bus station, which has 24/7 storage, or use one of the app-based drop-off points near the station. The Petržalka office is most useful when that is the station where you are getting off or getting on.

The ZSSK office is also attractive on price, as you pay per item and per day rather than per locker. For one suitcase for a whole day it is cheaper than a locker at Nivy, while for three items it works out about the same. Its opening hours until 17:00, however, mean that if you leave in the evening you have to collect your suitcase earlier.

App-Based Storage in the City Centre

Bratislava also has international luggage storage networks that do not have their own premises but work with hotels, shops and restaurants. You choose a location on the map, pay online and hand your suitcase to the staff there. Radical Storage lists points in Bratislava in the Old Town, near Michael's Gate and in a café by the railway station, with prices from €3.90 a day and €5 per item at most locations.[4] Stasher offers a similar service.[5]

The advantage is location, because you leave your suitcase a few minutes from the places you want to see and do not have to go back to the station. The drawback is opening hours, since they follow those of the business where you leave your luggage. The points Radical Storage lists in Bratislava mostly open between 8:00 and 11:00 and close around 21:00 or 22:00.[4] They are therefore less suitable for an arrival at six in the morning or a late departure on a night bus, so check the opening hours of the specific point in the app before you book.

With a Suitcase on Public Transport and to the Airport

If you travel around the city with luggage on public transport, remember that your suitcase needs a ticket too. For larger luggage you need a reduced 30-minute ticket, which is valid for as long as 300 minutes for luggage, and you can also buy it by tapping your payment card on the validator on board.[6] Line 61 between the airport and the main station uses high-capacity trolleybuses with luggage racks by the second and third doors.[6]

There is no direct daytime public transport connection between Nivy bus station and the airport, so the journey involves one change, while at night the N61 line links the airport, Mlynské nivy and the main station directly.[6] We were unable to confirm luggage storage at the airport itself from an official source, so if you are flying in we recommend leaving your suitcase once you are in the city. How to get from the airport or the station to your accommodation is covered in our article First steps after arriving in Bratislava, and if you land late, our article Arriving in Bratislava late at night will help.

Which Option Suits Your Situation

Each option has different hours and a different way of charging, so we have sorted them by when you arrive and when you leave. The table is our practical tip; the prices and hours are based on the sources at the end of the article.

Once your suitcase is stored, you can make the most of the day. How to fit in the main sights in a few hours is described in our article Bratislava in one day, and if you are getting around the city without a car, you will find practical routes in our article Bratislava without a car. One more tip: before you store your suitcase, move your documents, charger and medication into a small bag, because you will not want to go back to the locker during the day.

Early Check-In and Late Check-Out

The most comfortable option is not having to carry your suitcase anywhere at all. Early check-in before 15:00 or late check-out after 10:00 is possible at our apartments by prior arrangement and for an extra fee, with availability depending on the apartment's bookings on the given date, as we explain on our Self check-in page. So let us know when you book or as early as possible before you arrive, not on the morning of your arrival.

If you come by car, your luggage can wait in the car and parking is the bigger question. In the centre, the CASTE apartment on Zámocká Street is a good fit: it is a few minutes' walk from Bratislava Castle and has its own garage. If you are flying, consider the SADBA apartment on Ivánska cesta near the airport, with free parking. You will find all apartments with their calendars and current prices in our apartment overview.
